Tirupathi

The king of all temples lies in Tirupati, which is located in the Chittoor District. The town is located at the foothills of Tirumala Hills, which is home to one of the most ancient and holy temples of India. This temple attracts millions of devotees each year and is called Sri Venkateswara Temple. It is claimed that the temple get more pilgrims than Mecca and Jerusalem.

Tirupati is about 525 kilometres from Hyderabad and is surrounded by seven panoramic hills, which are home to perennial waterfalls, lush valleys and verdant forests. Besides the Sri Venkateswara Temple, other shrines located in the region include the Sri Govindrajaswamy Temple, Sri Kondandaramaswami Temple, Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple and the Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple.

Other attractions are Tirumala temple, Chandragiri fort, Talakona Waterfalls, Kalyani Dam, Srikalahasthi, Tiruchanoor.

Srisailam

The holy town of Srisailam is located on top of the Nallamala Hills in Kurnool District. It is situated on the banks of Krishna River, about 212 kilometres south of Hyderabad. Because of its forest sanctuary, the town is a popular weekend getaway destination. However, it also is known for its Shiva shrine. Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple, which is dedicated to Mallikarjuna Swamy, is located in Srisailam.

The temple is located at a height of 457 metres, on the southern bank of Krishna River. It was constructed about six centuries ago, during the reign of King Harihara Raya from the Vijayanagar Dynasty. The temple is built in the typical Vijayanagar architecture and what makes it special is that it is home to one of the twelve Jyothirlingas found in India. The sanctum sanctorum is shaped like a shell and enshrines Lord Mallikarjuna.

Other attractions are Srisailam Dam, Sakshi Ganapathi Temple, Akka Mahadevi Caves, Srisailam Tiger Sanctuary, Hathakesvara Temple, Shikareswara Temple, Hemareddy Mallamma Temple, Ahobilam, Mahanandi.

Vijayawada

The temple of Kanaka Durga is located in Vijayawada and leaves visitors spellbound. The beautiful and picturesque temple lies on top of Indrrakiladri Hills and enshrines Goddess Kanaka Durga. The hill offers some amazing vistas of the city. There are two routes to the temple. One can take the stairs leading to the temple which can be difficult and arduous. 

The one route is driving up the Ghat road. Along both routes there are ancient inscriptions that reveal the stories from the ancient times.Local legend claims that Arjuna, the mighty warrior from the Mahabharatha, received his divine weapon, the Pasupatha, at this site and after getting the weapon, he constructed the temple to honor Goddess Durga.

Other attractions are Kanaka Durga temple, Bhavani Island, Boating point at Durga ghat, Akkanna Madanna caves,Undavalli caves, Prakasam barrage, Kondapalli Fort Victoria Jubilee Museum, Mangalagiri, Amaravathi, Mogalarajapuram Caves. 

Puttaparthi

Puttaparthi is a small town located in the Ananthapur District of Andhra Pradesh. It was the home of spiritual guru, Sathya Sai Baba. The town is located on the banks or Chitravathi River and is surrounded by undulating hills. While the small town does not have much to offer in terms of natural splendour and beauty, it is a popular religious destination. The main attraction of the town is Prasanthi Nilayam, or the abode of peace, which was constructed in 1950.

The beautiful architecture of the structure and the tranquility can leave visitors spellbound. Apart from the residence and ashram of Sathya Sai Baba, who is considered to be a reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba, the town has a Hanuman temple, mosque and Sathyabhama temple, which was constructed by the grandfather of Sathya Sai Baba.

Other attractions are Chaitanya Jyoti Museum, Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre, Vata Vriksha (Meditation Tree), Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri Music College, Gokulam, Puttaparthi, Chitravathi River.

Simhachalam Temple

Also known as Simhadri, the suburb of Simhachalam is located close to Visakhapatnam, about 16 kilometres away. It is home to a Hindu temple, which is dedicated to an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple shows a synthesis of Oriya and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is considered as one of the eighteen shrines of Lord Narasimha.

The main deity housed in the sanctum sanctorum gives holy appearance in its true form just for 12 hours in the year. The remaining time, the deity is covered with sandalwood paste. The temple is known for its exquisite sculptures. There are beautifully carved Natya mantapa with 16 pillars and the Kalyana mantapa with its 96 pillars. These are testimony of the architectural brilliance that visitors can experience here.

Kailasagiri Hill Park

Kailasa Giri is a beautiful hill station of the destination offering beautiful view of the sea. The place is surrounded by Rushikonda Beach and Ramakrishna Beach on its left and hillock on its right. The name of the hill is derived from the word Kailasa, which means abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The main attraction of the place includes ropeway trolleys, enshrined sculpture of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, Road Train for kids and a huge Floral Clock. Recently emerged as a popular picnic spot, the place has several view points offering beautiful view of hills and the sea.

Nagarjuna Sagar dam, located on the borders of Guntur and Nalgonda districts is among the earliest structures built by the government leading to the Green Revolution in the country. The excavation site, inspired by the Roman era and a museum built on the island with relics of Buddha draw history lovers from all over.

The proposal to construct a dam to use the excess waters of the Krishna river was planned by the Nijam of Hyderabad and engaged British Engineers in 1903 to irrigate Telangana though the work was never funded and made no progress. Since then, various competing sites in Siddeswaram and Pulichintala were identified as the most suitable locations for the reservoirs.
